FC Twente went into the game with some confidence after their 3-3 draw with Ajax last weekend and they took the lead on Saturday after only 12 minutes. A quick counter-attack led to Tom Boere setting up Danny Holla to net the opener.
However, the lead only lasted five minutes before ADO Den Haag levelled through Nasser El Khayati, who finished off a swift move. The visitors then took the lead four minutes later with El Khayati turning provider with a cross that Bjørn Johnsen acrobatically finished.
Ten minutes before the break, Johnsen netted again, but this time he diverted Holla’s free-kick into his own net to ensure the sides went into the break level.
ADO Den Haag remained dangerous early in the second half, but Johnsen was denied by Jorn Brondeel on three separate occasions. At the other end, Fredrik Jensen was denied a penalty after being tripped by Donny Gorter.
In the 90th minute, ADO Den Haag snatched the victory through the excellent El Khayati, who profited on a mistake by Thomas Lam before firing past Brondeel.
The victory lifts ADO Den Haag up to 8th while Twente remains bottom of the table.
