Eljero Elia’s attitude has been called into question a number of times, but with the winger getting his career back on track he has rubbished comparison’s to Italian Mario Balotelli.

After a dazzling start to his career with FC Twente, Elia failed to settle in spells with Juventus, Hamburg, Werder Bremen and Southampton. The wingers attitude was called into question several times, with some believing Elia was more interested in his fashion line than playing football.
The 28-year-old’s inconsistency has seen him compared with Mario Balotelli, but speaking to Voetbal International, Elia has furiously slammed those claims, and called the Italian a “Pathetic attention seeker.”
Elia said, “Balotelli is a pathetic attention seeker.
“A man who throws darts at small children as I read it again recently. How disturbed is that? I have never sought attention, attention has been looking for me.”
Elia has shown at Feyenoord that he is ready to get his career back on track, and has even won his place back in the Dutch national side after a number of exciting performances.
He believes he has now learned to be a professional, “Football is not just about talent, it’s about how you live. I sometimes came too late or flipped out in interviews.
“Those are things I would not do now as I am older and wiser.”
