Two weeks ago, Rutte confirmed a ban on sports in the country which led to the Eredivisie season being cancelled early.
On Wednesday, Rutte said during his latest press conference that sports can resume on the 1st of September. That means the Eredivisie season can begin on that date.
However, the stadiums will be without fans, likely for the rest of the year. It is also likely that the whole season could be played behind closed doors.
Dutch clubs have already began training again in small groups. The players will be allowed a holiday before pre-season training is likely to begin again in July.
