In May a new league structure was proposed, but ten out of eighteen clubs voted against the change, which could have seen the Eredivisie reduced from 18 to 16 clubs or changed to resemble the Belgian Jupiler League.
However, Voetbal International has learned that several clubs now want to reopen the discussion in order to get Dutch football back on the map. With the national team failing to reach the World Cup and Dutch clubs struggling in Europe, a new league format may rejuvenate the Eredivisie.
Clubs will meet in November to discuss the plans.
Thanks to the oil billionaires from the Middle East who invest billions in the Premier League topclubs Dutch teams will never have a chance. The same goes for Belgian, Danish, Swiss and other clubs from small countries. They can not spend hundreds of millions for top players.
England has ruined European club football. And those morans in the UK call this ‘Fair Play’! England wants to leave the European Union? OK, then all English clubs should be banned forever from the European competitions. Maybe Fair Play will then be a reality again.
