Viktor Fischer scored twice as Ajax beat Cambuur 3-0 in the final match at the Amsterdam Arena this season.

fischer ahjaFrank de Boer stressed to his players to put on a performance to thank the fans for a difficult season, which had seen Ajax lose their Eredivisie crown for the first time in four years. However in the first half, Ajax looked a side already on their holidays as Cambuur dominated possession without ever really threatening.

After the break Ajax finally showed some desire and they were ahead on 57 minutes, when Ricardo Kishna set up Viktor Fischer to tap in from close range. Five minutes later it was 2-0 thanks to Fischer again, with the winger racing onto Daley Sinkgraven’s pass before firing past Leonard Nienhuis.

The win was wrapped up in the closing stages with a nice free kick from Lasse Schone as Ajax ended their final home game comfortably. Afterwards the crowd said their goodbye’s to the departing Niklas Moisander, while Jasper Cillessen was named player of the year, and Anwar El Ghazi youngster of the season.

Cambuur slip to tenth in the table, but their play-off hopes were ended when Groningen won the KNVB Cup.
