Utrecht were unable to build on their 6-2 hammering of AZ Alkmaar last week as they went down 3-1 to Cambuur in Leeuwarden.

camutr hdhThe game kick-started into life on the 18th minute when Christian Kum was penalised for a clumsy foul on Daniel de Ridder in the box, and Erik Bakker put Cambuur 1-0 up from the penalty spot.

Utrecht equalised less than ten minutes later as Edouard Duplan burst through a challenge from Vytautas Andriuskevicius before firing past Leonard Nienhuis. However parity lasted less than a minute before Sander van de Streek restored Cambuur’s lead with a well executed first time finish from Furdjel Narsingh’s cross. Cambuur could have extended their lead before the break, but De Ridder hit the post.

After the break Bartholomew Ogbeche struck the bar before Mikhail Rosheuvel sealed victory in injury time, finishing well after a counter attack.

Cambuur now share eighth place with FC Twente, while Utrecht remain 11th.
