Ajax’s disappointing season ended with an embarrassing 2-1 defeat to already relegated Dordrecht.

Both sides looked like they couldn’t wait for the season to end in a first half which saw neither side create any real chances, although Anwar El Ghazi came closest to scoring for Ajax with a header.
Ajax eventually took the lead around the hour mark when Dordrecht keeper Filip Kurto raced out of his goal in a failed attempt to clear from Lasse Schone, who set up Viktor Fischer to slip the ball into the empty net.
However Ajax inexplicably failed to hold onto the lead with Sean Klaiber equalising on 70 minutes after great work from Joris van Overeem, and then in injury time Dordrecht snatched the win with Ricky van Haaren beating stand-in goalkeeper Diederik Boer.
Ajax finish 2nd in the Eredivisie, but Frank de Boer clearly has a lot of work to do this summer if they are to take their title back from PSV. Dordrecht will drop down to the Eerste Divisie, but a tough season at least ends on a high.
