Feyenoord were far from convincing but they saw off an improved ADO Den Haag side 2-1 at De Kuip.

Feyenoord made a lively start and should have been ahead in the opening few minutes, but Colin Kazim Richards screwed a shot wide with the goal gaping. However after 10 minutes the opening goal did come as Lex Immers stuck his foot out to stab Miquel Nelom’s cross past Martin Hansen.
After 20 minutes the lead was doubled when Jens Toornstra’s sliding shot was sliced into the net by ADO Den Haag defender Timothy Derijck and home side seemed to be cruising to victory.
However two minutes into the second half Mike van Duinen rose to head in a free kick and ADO Den Haag halved the deficit. The away side were energised by the goal and Kenneth Vermeer had to push Danny Bakker’s header over the bar as they threatened an equaliser.
Jean Paul Boetius should have sealed the victory for Feyenoord with 20 minutes left, but with Hansen out of his goal the winger could only fire against the post from a tight angle.
ADO Den Haag pushed for a late equaliser, but Feyenoord defender their lead for the three points which keeps them in pole position for third place. ADO Den Haag sit just above the relegation zone in 15th.
