Groningen proved too strong for Go Ahead Eagles on Saturday as they ran out 2-0 winners in the Euroborg.

The home side had the lead after only nine minutes but the goal had a touch of fortune as Albert Rusnak looked to be sending a cross into the box, but it flew behind goalkeeper Mickey van der Hart and into the net.
Go Ahead Eagles barely threatened the dominant hosts, who missed several chances through Michael de Leeuw, Tjarron Chery and Jarchinio Antonia before the break.
Groningen finally sealed the points in the 69th minute and the goal was worth the wait as Chery played a slick one-two with Antonia before sliding the ball past Van der Hart.
The win lifts Groningen up to 8th in the table, while Go Ahead sit 14th.
