Vitesse have had a great February, beating Ajax and Cambuur to restore their hopes of European football, but against NAC they came up against a side build to defend. The visitors dominated possession, but could not find a way through, while NAC only created one chance through a corner with Kenny van der Weg heading wide.
On 64 minutes Vitesse had the lead due to a massive error from defender Menno Koch, who tried to clear the ball from the penalty area but hit fresh air which allowed Bertrand Traore to nip in and fire past Jelle ten Rouwelaar.
After defending for the first hour NAC then had to go on the attack, and Adnane Tighadouini came very close to equalising but the attackers shot came back off the inside of the post.
Valeri Qazaishvili put a glorious chance wide late on, but the miss didn’t cost Vitesse as they held on for the three points which lifts them to 8th. NAC are now only three points above bottom place Dordrecht, and without a win in seven matches the Breda side are in real trouble.
