Only 29 seconds after kick off referee Kevin Blom produced the fastest ever red card in the Eredivisie for Jetro Willems after a challenge on Gill Swerts. However replays showed the left back barely touched the NAC player, who’s theatrical dive clearly influenced Blom’s decision.
With the extra man NAC Breda began to dominate possession but they failed to create any clear cut chances against a well organised PSV defence, who were missing the injured Jeffrey Bruma.
PSV’s class proved crucial in the end as a measured pass from Adam Maher allowed Memphis Depay to slot in the opening goal in the 53rd minute. The winger is now the Eredivisie’s top scorer with 13 goals. With 15 minutes to go PSV sealed the win through Georginio Wijnaldum who raced towards the box before sending a shot into the top corner.
NAC remain 2nd bottom with the loss while PSV move 12 points clear of Ajax, who face AZ on Thursday.
