The home side went into the match on the back of a 3-0 KNVB Cup win over AZ, their best performance of the season, and Alfred Schreuder’s side created the best chances in an even first half, but Leonard Nienhuis was on hand to deny Renatio Tapia among others.
Just before the hour mark Twente finally took the lead when Tapia received a pass from Hakim Ziyech before evading a challenge and firing the ball past Nienhuis.
Castaignos missed a great chance to put Twente 2-0 up and on 73 minutes Cambuur equalised through Martijn Barto, who turned in the box before chipping the ball over Sonny Stevens.
The match seemed to be heading for a draw but with twenty seconds to go Andreas Bjelland won a header in the box and substitute Kyle Ebecilio was on hand to fire the winner into the corner.
Twente climb to 4th with the win, while Cambuut sit 9th.
