Vitesse Arnhem made it seven wins in eight matches as they saw off AZ Alkmaar 3-1 on Friday night.

AZ KAAAZ Alkmaar went into the match on the back of a 6-2 hiding from Utrecht, and after only six minutes they were on course for another defeat as Bertrand Traore capitalised on a slip by Wesley Hoedt before chipping the ball over Esteban and nodding the ball over the line.

However two minutes later the away side leveled when Eloy Room parried Simon Poulson’s fierce shot and Steven Berghuis fired in the rebound.

Denys Oliynyk struck the post before the break, but Vitesse re-took the lead on 72 minutes when Rochdi Achenteh handled in the box and Marko Vejivovic fired the penalty calmly past Esteban.

Valeri Qazaishvili provided the killer blow on the counter attack in injury time to hand Vitesse a win which lifts them above PEC Zwolle into fifth and only four points behind AZ.
