Willem II have been a revelation in the Eredivisie this season and are serious contenders for the European play-offs after a comprehensive victory over Heracles. The home side had the lead after 16 minutes as Samuel Armenteros, played onside by Heracles captain Mark jan Fledderus, finished off Bruno Andrade’s cross.
It was 2-0 for Willem II before the break as midfielder Robbie Haemhouts fired past Dennis Telgenkamp after receiving the ball from Wuytens, for his second goal in two games.
Heracles couldn’t find a way back into the match in the second period and their disappointing evening was compounded seven minutes from time when Joel Veldmate put the ball into his own net.
Willem II now sit one point off the European play-off spots while Heracles remain 16th.
