Saturday 19th November

          Heerenveen v Vitesse

Heerenveen suffered a setback with their defeat to Sparta two weeks ago. It halted their ten match unbeaten run in all competitions and may have knocked their confidence.

They sloppily conceded all three goals, which is still the Frisians’ main issue.

Visitors Vitesse haven’t won in four and still look short on quality to really push to become best of the rest in the Eredivisie.

They can put in a really good performance on occasion though, and here may spark an upturn in form for them.

Michael’s prediction: 1-2

Tip: Over 2.5 goals at 13/20. (click the bet365 banners to find out more…)

          Heracles v Go Ahead Eagles

Heracles rely on wingers Brandley Kuwas and Brahim Darri to come up with the goods, and it paid off in their last win in Arnhem.

On form: Darri

On form: Darri

At home to Go Ahead, you would think a home win is then in the bag given how the visitors have struggled and how Kuwas and Darri seem to be hitting form.

Although everyone must also consider that the newly promoted side took down the previously unbeaten league leaders a fortnight ago.

I’ll still tip a home win though. The Eagles don’t have enough goals in the team.

Michael’s prediction: 1-0

         Willem II v PSV

I nearly fell asleep watching Willem II’s last match in The Hague. I can’t remember a single chance they created, which does not bode well for the visit of PSV.

However, knowing PSV’s luck, it may only take the one good opening to score against the champions as Phillip Cocu’s men pass up so many golden opportunities each game.

Remarkably, PSV actually tightened the title race with a point against Twente last time out, despite dropping points again at home. The results in the last match-week were certainly unexpected…

Striker Luuk De Jong hasn’t scored in any of his last ten matches now for club and country, so I think he’s due a goal.

Michael’s prediction: 0-2

Tip: Luuk De Jong is 8/11 to score at anytime.

         Groningen v ADO Den Haag

Groningen and ADO were both involved in poor matches two weeks ago. They’re desperate for points and quality of football seems to be taking a back burner.

Groningen, being the home side, still have the potential to switch on this weekend, but ADO may be revitalised given that they finally ground out a win in their last game.

I’ll predict a home win and not a lot of goals.

Michael’s prediction: 1-0

         Excelsior v Sparta

It’s now seven games without an Eredivisie win for Excelsior, which is poor form to come into this Rotterdam derby.

They’ve also only scored three times in their barren run. Whereas opponents Sparta have netted eight times in their last three matches.

A standout player for the visitors recently has to be Denzel Dumfries. He has the physical qualities to go with his decent touch and attacking intelligence, making him a promising right-back for the future.

Going on current form, Sparta must be fancied.

Michael’s prediction: 1-2

Sunday 20th November

         Roda JC v AZ

Despite, in my opinion, playing some dreadful football, Roda are now four unbeaten. Luck has played a part, but Yannis Anastasiou can take some credit for solidifying a team low on quality and defensive stability.

AZ, despite a minor recent wobble, look to be back on track following an exciting 2-2 draw with Ajax. The brace will have done the world of good for Wout Weghorst, who was falling out of favour.

I think AZ will be able to break through Roda and win quite comfortably.

Michael’s prediction: 0-2

Tip: Weghorst is 13/10 to score at anytime.

         Ajax v NEC

Missing: Bazoer

Ajax’s defence was left red-faced once again by AZ. Peter Bosz’s influence is clear on the team now. He picks very attacking line-ups, leaving his side open to counter-attacks.

An in form Riechedly Bazoer is missing from the team, a midfield destroyer with a box-to-box influence. For me, Lasse Schone is too lightweight to be the defensive midfielder.

They will win this one though, because to be honest, the attacking style works for these kinds of home games. NEC are ticking along, but have not set the league alight this season so far.

Michael’s prediction: 2-0

         Twente v Utrecht

It should be a good contest between sixth and eighth in the table.

Twente haven’t lost in the league since early September and pinched a deserved point from PSV in their last match.

I think Utrecht will give the hosts a tough game, and give the home defence plenty to think about.

It’s difficult to call, so I’ll go with a draw.

Michael’s prediction: 2-2

         Feyenoord v PEC Zwolle

I did say a few weeks ago that Feyenoord would fall away a little before Winter. I still think Ajax will catch up and may well be top of the tree come the Christmas break.

It may seem a little crazy, but I’m tipping PEC to upset the apple cart a little here. They’ve become a solid unit again after a dodgy start to the season. They have got the ability to get a result here.

Michael’s prediction: 1-1

Tip: Anass Achabar is 5/1 to score at anytime against his former club.
