The final matchday of the Eredivisie in 2020 is over with PSV Eindhoven, Feyenoord and AZ Alkmaar all closing the gap on Ajax. Below is our team of the week.

Robbin Ruiter (Willem II)

The goalkeeper made a big error in letting Antony’s early shot fly past him but after that he was outstanding. Made three crucial saves late on to deny Ajax the three points.

Philipp Max (PSV)

Ended the year in great form, scoring and providing an assist in PSV’s comfortable victory over VVV-Venlo. The left-back has been an excellent signing.

Marco Rente (Heracles Almelo)

Heracles came away from high-flying Groningen with a 1-0 victory after a good defensive performance. Rente was the pick of the bunch as his side kept Groningen out.

Eric Botteghin (Feyenoord)

Has had shaky moments so far this season but Botteghin was excellent as Feyenoord easily defeated Heerenveen 3-0. Henk Veerman barely got a sniff from the centre-back.

Bart Vriends (Sparta Rotterdam)

A solid display from the centre-back in Sparta’s 2-0 victory over FC Twente. Eredivisie top scorer Danilo didn’t get much from Vriends.

Cody Gakpo (PSV Eindhoven)

Gakpo continued his fine form for PSV with another fine goal in the 4-1 win over VVV-Venlo. The attacker also hit the post.

Teun Koopmeiners (AZ Alkmaar)

Koopmeiners dominated the Vitesse Arnhem midfield and then played most of the second half as a centre-back in the 3-1 victory. Has been outstanding in recent weeks.

Noni Madueke (PSV Eindhoven)

The Englishman replaced Donyell Malen in the starting line-up and was key in the 4-1 victory over VVV-Venlo. Provided two assists and won a penalty.

Gyrano Kerk (Utrecht)

Utrecht needed a victory and they managed to get a comeback 3-2 win at Emmen. Kerk was excellent in the second half and had a key role in two of the goals.

Steven Berghuis (Feyenoord)

The Feyenoord captain returned to the starting line-up and put in an excellent display. Didn’t manage to get himself a goal, but created seven chances and got one assist.

Bryan Linssen (Feyenoord)

Linssen has been awful since joining Feyenoord but on Wednesday, he showed some form by netting a hattrick in the 3-0 win over Heerenveen. May be the confidence boost he needs to push on.
