schone sjjRound 24 saw Ajax see off Heerenveen 3-0 to maintain a three point gap over Twente, who also won 2-0 at home to Vitesse. Feyenoord slipped up by drawing 1-1 with NAC Breda. The battle at the bottom intensifies as ADO Den Haag, NEC, and Cambuur all won leaving Roda JC rooted to 18th place. There was also wins for PSV, and Groningen, while AZ v Utrecht finished 1-1.

Our team of the week is:

Goalkeeper: Jelle Ten Rouwelaar (NAC Breda)

Made a number of crucial stops to earn NAC a point against Feyenoord. Pulled off an excellent first half save to deny Graziano Pelle’s header.

Right Back: Daryl Janmaat (Feyenoord)

Netted the opener in Feyenoords draw with NAC, whilst also creating a big chance for Graziano Pelle which should have given his side the win.

Left Back: Jetro Willems (PSV)

Provided a brilliant cross which saw Bryan Ruiz give PSV a 2-1 win over Heracles on Friday. Willems was excellent at the back, and steamed forward at every opportunity.

Centre Back: Matthieu Delpierre (Utrecht)

Utrecht earned a 1-1 draw away to AZ on Saturday with Delpierre excellent at the back for the strugglers. Helped stop Johannsson, and Beerens from giving AZ an easy win.

Centre Back: Niklas Moisander (Ajax)

Moisander put in a classy performance in the win over Heerenveen, strolling through the game dealing with anything that came his way. Moisander should have netted the opening goal, but was denied by the woodwork.

Midfielder: Dusan Tadic (Twente)

Another week another place in our team of the week for Tadic, as the Serbian was once again fantastic in the win over Vitesse. Netted a brilliant lob to make it 2-0 and seal the win. Possibly the most on form player in the Eredivisie.

Midfielder: Ryan Koolwijk (NEC)

Commanded the midfield in NEC’s surprise 3-1 win over RKC, making a number of crucial tackles to break up the home sides attacks.

Midfielder: Lasse Schone (Ajax)

While Ajax celebrated Christian Eriksen before the game with Heerenveen it was another Danish midfielder who stole the show, as Schone netted all three goals in the 3-0 win.

Forward: Martijn Barto (Cambuur)

Barto netted two fine goals in the 3-1 win over PEC Zwolle, and could have had more in an excellent first half performance by his side. His second goal was a particular highlight, as the striker volleyed into the net.

Forward: Tjarron Chery (Groningen)

Groningen finally recorded a win in 2014 thanks to Chery’s fine finish early in the 1-0 win over Go Ahead Eagles. The winger was impressive throughout causing the Eagles defence a number of problems.

Forward: Luc Castaignos (Twente)

The partnership between Tadic and Castaignos is now one of the most deadly in the Eredivisie, with the Twente forward ending the game against Vitesse with a goal and assist in the 2-0 win.
