The previous measures stated that there was to be no football activity until April 6th, with the KNVB then giving clubs a few weeks of training before action could resume.
However, the Dutch government announced on Monday that there are no group activities allowed until at least the 1st of June.
That is likely to spell the end of the season for the Eredivisie, with UEFA previously stating they wanted all campaigns to be over by June 30th.
This means that De Telegraaf’s article from Monday morning that outlined the Eredivisie’s emergency scenario for this is likely to be true. You can read about that by clicking here.
Why not just cancel NEXT season (2020/21) and complete the remainder of this season when football and life in general can resume? Looks increasingly likely say medics that socialising and public gatherings will not happen much before end of this year.
Squads need to train and get match fit, through friendlies etc. If that starts only at beginning of 2021 then in effect will gave had suspension of this season for almost a year.
So, in in first half of 2021 play out remainder of this season in front of crowds, then the Nations Cup, and start 2021/22 season on time.
