This week Groningen shocked PSV, Go Ahead Eagles stunned Feyenoord with a last minute equaliser, while table toppers FC Twente shared a 1-1 draw with Ajax.
Here is our team of the week:
Goalkeeper- Marco Bizot (Groningen)
The 22 year old stopper was the star performer in Groningen’s 1-0 victory over PSV on Sunday, as he pulled off save after save to deny the Eindhoven side’s attackers. Bizot frustrated Memphis Depay a number of times, whilst pulling off a stunning save from Ola Toivonen.
Right Back- Bram van Polen (PEC Zwolle)
Always looked to get forward in Zwolle’s 6-1 win over ADO Den Haag, and scored with an excellent strike into the top corner for his side’s fifth goal.
Left Back- Patrick van Aanholt (Vitesse)
Defended well against Luciano Slagveer throughout Vitesse’s 3-2 win over Heerenveen, and popped up in the 93rd minute to score the brilliant winner.
Centre Back- Rens van Eijden (NEC Nijmegen)
Scored the opener for the Eredivisie bottom side with a good header, and defended excellently when NEC were reduced to ten men. Unluckily his side couldn’t hold on for the win, eventually drawing 1-1.
Centre Back- Eric Botteghin (Groningen)
Another standout from Groningen’s win over PSV, as Botteghin shackled Tim Matavz, giving the Slovenian no chances to score throughout. The defender was unlucky not to net himself, as he saw a header cleared from the line.
Midfielder- Mateusz Klich (PEC Zwolle)
Out of Zwolle’s six goals against ADO Den Haag, Klich assisted four of them with a number of excellent passes throughout the 6-2 victory. An excellent display from the midfielder.
Midfielder- Mustafa Saymak (PEC Zwolle)
Two goals and an assist for the youngster against ADO Den Haag. The midfielder showed great calmness to score the opener when speeding through on goal, before using sublime skill to net another. An exciting prospect for Zwolle.
Midfielder- Jens Toornstra (Utrecht)
The midfielder not only scored two great goals against NAC Breda in a 4-2 win, but Toornstra also saw two efforts crash back of the bar. A majestic performance by the 24 year old.
Attacker- Fred Benson (PEC Zwolle)
Zwolle’s forward terrified the ADO Den Haag defence, and netted twice in the 6-1 win. Benson only touched the ball 23 times in the whole game, but managed seven shots, and two goals.
Attacker- Aron Johannsson (AZ)
With AZ losing 1-0 to Cambuur, Aron Johannsson was the catalyst for the comeback, firstly setting up Roy Beerens to equalise before netting twice to give his side a 3-1 win. The second of his goals was a great curled effort into the top corner.
Attacker- Lucas Piazon (Vitesse)
Heerenveen held a 2-0 lead before Lucas Piazon turned the game around, scoring his first with a fine turn and finish, before his free-kick evaded everyone and ended up in the corner. In the 93rd minute, Piazon then set up Van Aanholt to smash in the winner.
