FC Utrecht manager Erik Ten Hag spoke to the NOS after hs team’s 2-1 home win against SC Heerenveen. FC Utrecht now goes on to face AZ Alkmaar for a place in the Europa League qualifying rounds.

Ten Hag said, ”I believe that we deserved to go through to the play-off final. We were convincing over the two games.
”We are energetic, fit and also tactically strong. You also see that the players have a lot of fun playing in this team. My team can always find a way to create chances.
”We will give it our all to reach the Europa League qualifying rounds. Our squad is fit and the players have athletic capabilities. My players are also eager to improve game on game.
”We must focus on the final against AZ Alkmaar and only concentrate on that. We always think long term but also not be distracted by potential off the field transfers.
”I am aware that FC Utrecht have not qualified for Europe in recent years but first and foremost we must focus on playing the final. We have a belief that we can play in Europe next season.”
