Eriksen moved from Ajax to Tottenham for €12 million at the end of the transfer window, ending a successful spell in the Eredivisie for the Danish midfielder, who won three Eredivisie titles in his time in Amsterdam.
This weekend, Eriksen is set to make his Premier League debut, against Norwich City, and manager Villas-Boas feels his new signing will be their key to unlock defences, while comparing him to former Ajax stars Wesley Sneijder, and Rafael van der Vaart.
He stated,” What we did in the transfer market is in the expectancy of these players becoming world stars. I think what happened with Christian is a bit like what happened with Van der Vaart and Sneijder when they were at Ajax.”
“They reached a moment in their careers where they became extremely important for the team, and the club that goes there and gets them makes a great transfer move, and we expect great things of Christian Eriksen. We would like to develop him into becoming that type of important player for us as well.”
