NEC Nijmegen boss Ernest Faber confirmed on Wednesday that he has been in talks with Groningen over their managerial position.

faber necccCurrent Groningen boss Edwin van de Looi has already announced that he will depart the Euroborg this summer, and Faber’s name has been linked with the job.

Speaking to the NOS reporter Joep Schreuder after the PSV v Atletico Madrid match on Wednesday night, Faber confirmed that he had spoken to FC Groningen about the vacant manger position.

He said, ”It’s true that I have spoken to FC Groningen about the becoming their manager.

“But at the moment I am only focused on tommorow’s league game against Excelsior Rotterdam.

“Everyone knows that NEC Nijmegen are targeting European football. After the match on Friday we shall see what happens”.
