Erwin was assistant to Ronald with Southampton and Everton but now wants to return to coaching on his own. He previously managed RKC, Feyenoord, Utrecht, FC Eindhoven and the Hungarian national team.
Koeman is quoted by NOS saying, ”It is not realistic to think that my brother Ronald and I will become involved with the Dutch national team together.
‘ I am planning to go it alone and become a manager again. If Ronald does become Dutch national team manager I will not become his assistant because I want to become a manager again.
”I have worked the last three and a half years in a fantastic way with Ronald in the strongest and best league in the world. I really enjoyed my time in England it was a great experience.
”I still feel like a manager and I want to manage again and my preference is to manage abroad.
”I understand why my bother is linked to the Dutch national team job. I believe that it is the right moment for him if he is offered the job. He has a lot of experience and you must not forget that he managed to qualify English teams for Europe three years in a row. I also believe that he is ready for the Dutch national team job.
”I hope that the KNVB make the right decision when appointing a new manager”.
