Feyenoord needs to defeat Lazio in Rotterdam on Thursday if they are to progress to the next round of the Europa League. Kick-off is at 17:45.

The group has been a tight one throughout but Feyenoord’s chances of progression took a massive hit last week when they lost 1-0 at Sturm Graz.

Feyenoord is now third in the group and three points behind group leader Lazio and Sturm Graz. Arne Slot’s side now needs to win if they are to have any chance of progressing. If they lose and Midtjylland defeat Sturm Graz, then the Rotterdammers will be out of Europe altogether.

Feyenoord were given the weekend off in order to prepare for the must-win game against Lazio, who lost 3-1 at home to Salernitana.

Earlier in the group, Lazio defeated Feyenoord 4-2. That means Feyenoord would need to win by two clear goals in order to overtake the Italian side.

Team News

Feyenoord are without Oussama Idrissi but have no fresh injury concerns for the clash on Thursday. Slot will have to decide on what he believes is his best XI to get the win.

Possible Feyenoord line-up: Bijlow, Pedersen, Trauner, Hancko, Lopez; Timber, Geertruida, Szymanski, Kokcu, Gimenez, Dilrosun

Lazio have a huge league game at the weekend against fierce rivals AS Roma, but they still need a point at least to qualify. Ciro Immobile is out injured, but Manuel Lazzari returns from suspension.

Possible Lazio line-up: Provedel; Hysaj, Gila, Romagnoli, Marusic; Milinkovic-Savic, Cataldi, Antonio; Pedro, Cancellieri, Zaccagni

Odds

Feyenoord 5/4 Draw 13/5 Lazio 21/10

Can Feyenoord seal progression?

Thursday is a huge clash for the hosts as they look to avoid missing out on European football after the winter, which would be catastrophic given the strength of the group.

Feyenoord would only have themselves to blame, though, as they threw away points against Midtjylland and Sturm Graz last week.

Slot will need the home crowd behind him as they go for a victory against a strong Lazio side, who may have one eye on the clash against AS Roma. Feyenoord will be up for the game and they are more than capable of beating anyone at home on their day.
