PSV Eindhoven hosts Bodo/Glimt as they get their Europa League campaign underway in the Philips Stadion. Kick-off is at 17.45.

PSV had hoped to reach the Champions League group stages but they were knocked out in the playoff round by Rangers in Eindhoven. It was a big blow for PSV, and now they must pick themselves up for the Europa League.

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side begin their campaign with a tie against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt, who made a big impression in the Europa Conference League last season as they reached the semi-finals. The Norwegians knocked out AZ Alkmaar on their way to the last four.

PSV goes into the game on the back of a disappointing 2-1 loss at FC Twente, which ended their winning streak in the Eredivisie. Bodo/Glimt also lost in their league at the weekend, falling to a 4-1 defeat to Molde.

The group’s other game sees Arsenal travel to FC Zurich.

Luuk de Jong remains out for PSV Eindhoven, along with Noni Madueke, Mauro Junior and Marco van Ginkel. Olivier Boscagli has only recently returned to training.

Anwar El Ghazi will be pushing for his first start since joining the club.

Amahl Pellegrino is a doubt for Bodo/Glimt after hobbling off injured at the weekend, while Sondre Fet is out with a knee problem.

PSV need a performance to quell doubters

PSV had an excellent start tot heir season but the defeat to Rangers and the loss to FC Twente have now seen some criticism come Ruud van Nistelrooy’s way.

PSV need to up their game and put in a performance against Bodo/Glimt, who are a dangerous side.

Xavi Simons has excelled for PSV so far and the youngster will be looking to pull the strings again. Up front, PSV will be hoping for more from Cody Gakpo.

A comfortable win would provide a timely boost for the Eindhoven side.
