Utrecht are into the European playoff final after a 3-0 victory over Heracles Almelo. They progress 5-0 on aggregate.

Leading 2-0 from the first-leg, Utrecht went into the game with a comfortable lead.

The opening period was a dull affair but Utrecht were dealt a blow when Riechedly Bazoer had to be replaced. Dick Advocaat let his team play for ten minutes before finally deciding to bring on Jean-Christophe Bahebeck.

Utrecht had a great chance to take the lead before the break but Heracles defender Tim Breukers made an excellent tackle to deny Othman Boussaid.

In the 57th minute the home side were awarded a penalty for a foul on Cyriel Dessers by Mats Knoester. Simon Gustafson made no mistake and Utrecht went 1-0 up.

Ten minutes from time, an excellent team move was finished of by Bahebeck for Utrecht’s second. The French striker then added a third in injury time to seal a comfortable evening.

Utrecht will now await the winner of Vitesse v Groningen.
