Everton coach Roberto Martinez has denied rumours that the club are in talks with free agent Ron Vlaar, but did not rule out a move for the Dutchman.

Vlaar has been without a club since leaving Aston Villa at the end of last season and reports in the Liverpool echo last week stated Everton were ready to bring the centre back to the club.
When asked about the rumour today Everton boss Roberto Martinez was coy on the link, stating the club had begun talks with Vlaar but did not deny interest.
Martinez said, “He is a defender with experience in the Premier League and is also a free transfer, but there’s no talking with him. So I have nothing to say about it.”
Vlaar is currently training with AZ Alkmaar as he returns to fitness from a knee injury.
