Everton forward Richarlison has added some fuel to the fire ahead of this weekend’s Merseyside derby by stating Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk is not the best defender in the World.

Van Dijk is widely regarded as the best centre-back in World football, and finished second to Lionel Messi in the most recent Ballon d’Or vote. However, Richarlison believes there are three better defenders than the Netherlands captain.
He told Brazilian channel Desimpedidos, “People often talk about him. Yes, he is a good defender and he is having a strong season, but I have dribbled past him before. I think there are better defenders. Who? Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Sergio Ramos.”
Everton and Liverpool clash on Sunday with the latter needing only two wins to claim the Premier League title.
