The first half was a dull affair with Excelsior striker Tom Van Weert’s header which hit the post the only real chance for either side in the opening forty-five minutes. Dordrecht suffered two injury blows in the first half as Funso Ojo and Giovanni Korte forced off the pitch, with the latter rumoured to have broken his fibula.
Six minutes into the second half the deadlock was broken by Excelsior midfielder Adil Aussuar who beat two defenders before curling a spectacular curling effort into the top corner from the edge of the box.
Excelsior looked like holding onto the win but with five minutes to go Ryan Koolwijk saw a shot deflected wide and from the following corner Robin Gosens stooped to head in an equaliser.
In the final minute of normal time Excelsior were reduced to ten men with Luigi Bruins shown a straight red card for an alleged headbutt. Dordrecht could not take advantage of the extra man and both settled for a point.
Dordrecht now have five points for the season, while Excelsior climb two places to 8th.
