Excelsior are into the KNVB Cup semi-finals for the first time since 1978 after they hammered Roda JC 4-1 in Kerkrade.

Roda JC shocked Eredivisie leaders PSV Eindhoven in the last round, but they were totally outclassed by an excellent Excelsior who took the lead on 15 minutes when Ninos Gouriye picked the ball up on the edge of the area before sending a low shot into the bottom corner.
Jurgen Mattheij slid in a second from close range on 30 minutes before Tom Van Weert fired in the third five minutes later.
Anco Jansen sent a powerful effort into the net off the crossbar on 77 minutes, but it proved to be nothing but a consolation as Van Weert smashed a half volley into the top corner to cap a memorable evening for Excelsior.
