Excelsior and FC Twente ended 2017 with a drab 0-0 draw in Rotterdam.

Before the game, Excelsior lit up the stadium with a fireworks show, but that turned out to be the most entertainment on the night with both sides struggling to create chances in the first half.
Excelsior had the better of the first half, but Stanley Elbers and Anouar Hadouir missed the ball from Jordy de Wijs cross while Cristián Cuevas almost netted an own-goal.
In the second half, Oussama Assaidi fired just wide for FC Twente, while Ryan Koolwijk came close to winning the game for the hosts late on, but his effort flew off target.
Excelsior remain 11th with the point while FC Twente are 16th.
