Erwin van de Looi announced in January that he was to leave his position at Groningen at the end of the season, and since then the club have been on the lookout for a new coach.
Ernest Faber has been the name most linked to the job, and on Monday it was confirmed that the 44-year-old will leave NEC Nijmegen at the end of the season to take charge at the Euroborg.
Faber started his coaching career with FC Eindhoven before taking a job as assistant to Phillip Cocu at PSV Eindhoven. The former centre back left PSV to join NEC in the summer, and has guided the club to seventh place in the current Eredivisie standings.
