The victory was the first for Groningen in five Eredivisie games and lifted them out of the bottom three.

Faber said, ”I am delighted with our victory today. We fell behind in the game and we managed to turn things around. I compliment all my players today.

”The last few weeks have been tough and a half-time I told my players that we must believe that we can turn this around and get a positive result. You also need a bit of luck at times.

”This victory is well timed and it was real team performance which is the basis of what we try to achieve here at FC Groningen.

”We will take confidence from today and we also climb up the Eredivisie table and we will now turn our attention to next weekend and our home match against Feyenoord.”
