Falkenburg, who spent last season on loan with Go Ahead Eagles, was a free agent after his contract with AZ Alkmaar expired at the end of the season. Although Go Ahead Eagles attempted to convince Falkenburg to stay on at the Deventer club permanently, the 26-year-old has instead opted for NAC Breda, signing a two-year-deal.
Speaking to the official NAC site, Falkenburg said, “I have always kept a warm contact with coach Nebojsa Gudelj. I have a good feeling about the way the NAC selection for next year is organized, and am proud that I can get to work in the midfield of Breda.”
Falkenburg started his career at Sparta Rotterdam before joining AZ Alkmaar in 2010, but despite scoring 10 goals in 45 appearances for the club, the midfielder found himself out of favour. In the past year, Falkenburg has spent time on loan with NEC, and then Go Ahead Eagles.
