The midfielder joined the French club on a free transfer during the summer but has struggled with fitness and has made only three appearances.

Favre said in preparation for Nice’s Europa League tie with Vitesse that Sneijder has not yet proved his fitness and will struggle to fit in the club’s current style of play.

He said, “Sneijder is not fit. He started late with his preparation. Then he had an injury. Now we play 4-4-2 and it is difficult for him to get a place. We are playing in another system. ”

Sneijder’s lack of action will make it difficult for Netherlands boss Dick Advocaat to name the midfielder in his squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers. He names his squad on Friday.
