FC Volendam have sacked their manager Robert Molenaar after failing to win a league game since the end of March.

A statement from the club reads as the following, ”In the 4th period of the season it is proved that a new impulse is needed in order to be successful in the promotion play-offs.”

Robert Molenaar was due to leave FC Volendam at the end of the season seeking a new challenge. He had been in charge of FC Volendam since July 2015 where he reached the promotion play-offs the following season only to be eliminated in the first round.

Berry Smit and Johan Steur will take over the reigns at FC Volendam until the end of the season. FC Volendam are currently 5th in the Jupiler League.
