Robin van Persie has officially left Manchester United after signing a three-year-contract with Turkish club Fenerbahce.

van p fenerThe striker arrived in Turkey on Sunday to a hero’s welcome, and today signed his three-year-contract in front of thousands of chanting Fenerbahce fans, who were clearly impressed with their new signing.

Van Persie told the crowd, “Thank you for coming,”

“I want to learn the Turkish language quickly and adapt as quickly as possible to the culture. I am grateful and I promise I’m going to do everything to achieve success with the club. I hope with you to celebrate the championship.”

The 31-year-old leaves England after eight years with Arsenal, and three seasons with Manchester United. The Netherlands captain scored 144 Premier League goals, making him the second most prolific foreigner in the league’s history behind Thierry Henry.

Van Persie is the third Dutch striker to join Fenerbahce in recent times after Pierre van Hooijdonk and Dirk Kuyt both had spells in Istanbul.
