Fenerbahce have refused claims that they could sell Robin van Persie this January and insist the striker is happy at the club.

van persie fenerThe former Manchester United striker has been linked in the past few days with former club Feyenoord, and is reportedly a January target for Barcelona.

However Fenerbahce have released a statement to quash rumours that they are willing to sell Van Persie, and insist the 32-year-old wants to remain in Turkey.

The statement said, “In the last few days there have been many transfer rumours about Robin van Persie in the media, but these are against our player’s wishes.

“We don’t have any plans to sell (Van Persie) and he wants to stay with us too. He is a valuable player in our squad and he is going to play for us.”
