News broke on Monday that Feyenoord were looking at their former academy graduate as a possible replacement for Tonny Vilhena, who is set to leave De Kuip in January. Any move would be a loan deal, due to Fer having a contract in England until 2017.
Speaking to Fox Sports, Fer’s agent Rob Jansen confirmed that Feyenoord are interested in the midfielder, but also stated that, although the move may be beneficial for his chances of reaching the Dutch national team, finances make the deal unlikely.
Jansen said when asked if a move to the Eredivisie would be wise, “In view of the Dutch national team. But the move to the Netherlands is not easy. It can happen, but it is not very likely. These two financial worlds are very far apart.
“Of course, Leroy and I talked about Feyenoord’s interest, but we are dependent on what QPR wants. Let’s first look at that,”
Fer played 103 matches for Feyenoord before leaving the club for FC Twente in 2011. Since then the midfielder has had a spell with Norwich City before joining QPR.
Moeny shouldn’t be that much of an issue unless QPR makes it one. Feyenoord had money left over after this summers signing period. While watching the game this weekend the announcers were talking about Feyenoord’s record profits this past year. Club is also out of debt.
As I said yesterday, he would be the perfect fit to the MF. marko is right footed, Gustufson is left footed, and Fer is good with both. All are also tall guys.
Adding guys like Fer would not only make Feyenoord better in the domestic competitions, but better in the european competitions.
