The midfielder is available on a free transfer after leaving Swansea City and this week Feyenoord confirmed he would join their training in order to maintain fitness.
Speaking to Voetbal International, Fer has confirmed he is hoping to get fit first and then sign a contract with Feyenoord, “But I am not yet fit, so speculating is pointless. Getting fit is my main focus and if it is only then we will look, but that is the ideal scenario, of course. Feyenoord is the club where it all started for me. ”
Fer left Feyenoord in 2011 to join FC Twente and he knows there may be some fans that have not forgiven him yet for departing Rotterdam, “I don’t know if everyone is equally happy now that I am wearing a Feyenoord outfit again,
“But people within the club gave me a warm welcome, just like many supporters, from them I also received good messages. I am really grateful that Feyenoord now gives me the opportunity to train and get fit. “
