Leroy Fer is hoping to sort out his future quickly with his contract at Feyenoord expiring this summer.

The 30-year-old returned to Feyenoord last summer on a one-year contract. Both parties are hoping to extend that stay into next season, but there is no agreement yet.

Speaking to Trouw, Fer said, “I try to remain calm. We are not playing football for the time being, but you would like to know where your future lies.”

Fer is also concerned about what football will be like after the corona virus crisis, “That keeps me busy, yes. You wonder: what if this persists? What then? I am not the youngest anymore and this is the game I love. You already hear that we may have to play without an audience for a long time. I will miss that because we play football for the fans.”
