For the second time in four days Feyenoord have proved too strong for PEC Zwolle, with the 2-0 win at De Kuip sending Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side up to second in the Eredivisie.

Feyenoord ran out easy 3-0 winners over PEC Zwolle in the KNVB Cup on Thursday and they began the tie on Sunday in control, but despite having lots of the ball they failed to trouble Mickey van der Hart in a poor first half. Michiel Kramer fired their best chance wide, while at the other end Lars Veldwijk put the ball in the net, but it was disallowed for handball.
On Thursday Dirk Kuyt netted his first two goals from open play since rejoining Feyenoord, and the forward made it three in two games against PEC Zwolle as he finished off Rick Karsdorp’s cross on 54 minutes to break the deadlock.
Karsdorp then set up Kramer with a fantastic cross, but the forward blasted the ball over the bar. The miss wasn’t to prove costly though as Eljero Elia cut in from the left before firing into the bottom corner to seal the three points.
The win lifts Feyenoord to second, while PEC Zwolle slip to fourth.
Nice solid win. Always tougher the second time you see a the same team in a week. The team has looked much better the last 2 games since Gustofsson has been added to the MF. I didn’t expect him to be ready this soon. But then again I didn’t expect Toornstra and Immers to both be so down to start the season. They opened the door and Gus is taking advantage of it. Good for him.
The only thing left that I would like to see is Bottingha in the lineup and van der heijden on the bench.
