After leaving Swansea City at the end of the season, Fer returned to Rotterdam to train with his former club. However, he made it clear that he was willing to stay and sign a contract.
Fer’s return has now been made official after he put pen-to-paper on a one-year contract.
He told the Feyenoord website, “Feyenoord is the club where I grew up. I have always followed the club and on my return I immediately felt: my heart is here. I am very happy to be back. I feel stronger and fitter and I will do everything in my power to get back to my old level as quickly as possible, in order to have a great season with Feyenoord, the players and the technical staff.”
The 29-year-old came through the Feyenoord academy but after 125 appearances he joined FC Twente in 2011. He then moved to England with Norwich City and QPR before his three-year spell with Swansea City.
Fer is the fourth summer signing for Feyenoord after Nick Marsman, Luciano Narsingh and Liam Kelly.
