Feyenoord closed a successful week with a 2-0 victory over Volendam on Sunday.

Feyenoord went into the game full of confidence thanks to their 1-0 win over Lazio in midweek that sealed their progression in the Europa League.

After fifteen minutes, Feyenoord had the lead with Javairo Dilrosun setting up Danilo to fire in the opener. The Brazilian was favoured over Santiago Gimenez and repaid his manager’s confidence.

Sebastian Szymanski then doubled the lead before the break with a fierce low strike that flew into the bottom corner from outside the box.

Feyenoord eased to victory in the second half as Volendam struggled to create anything. Robert Muhren went off injured for the hosts and they will hope that it is not too serious.

The win means Feyenoord move to within a point of top spot ahead of Ajax’s clash with PSV. Volendam remains rock bottom.
