Feyenoord defeated local rivals Excelsior 5-0 in De Kuip to consolidate 4th spot in the table.

The home side went into the game without both Robin van Persie and Nicolai Jorgensen, meaning Dylan Vente was given the chance to start up front.

Feyenoord got off to the perfect start as Jean-Paul Boetius curled a terrific effort into the bottom corner from just outside the box to make it 1-0 after only four minutes. The winger then turned provider with his cross nodded in from close range by Jens Toornstra just before the half-hour mark.

The first half was a stroll for the hosts and Tonny Vilhena added a third just before the break, firstly robbing the ball in midfield before strolling forward to finish a Steven Berghuis cross.

Ten minutes into the second half, Berghuis added the fourth with a fine finish before Jordy de Wijs netted an own-goal to seal a miserable afternoon for Excelsior.

The victory moves Feyenoord three points clear of Utrecht in fourth spot, while Excelsior are 11th.
