Feyenoord wrapped up a turbulent week with a frustrating 0-0 draw at home to Heracles Almelo.

After Dick Advocaat’s announcement that he will depart the club at the end of the season, and the dismal 2-0 loss at home to Dinamo Zagreb in the Europa League, Feyenoord headed into the game against Heracles without the injured Bryan Linssen, while Steven Berghuis was only on the bench.

Heracles had the first big chance of the game on fifteen minutes but after racing in on goal he was denied by Nick Marsman. At the other end, Tyrell Malaci struck the crossbar. Nicolai Jorgensen also wasted a good chance with a weak effort.

Advocaat had to turn to Berghuis in the second half, but he could not help change the home sides fortunes. Even after Sinan Bakis was shown a red card, Feyenoord could not find the winning goal. Late chances fell to Marouan Azarkan and Jørgensen but Heracles held on.

The point means Feyenoord are fourth while Heracles are 13th. Feyenoord head to Austria on Thursday for a must win Europa League game with Wolfsberger AC.
