Feyenoord failed to take advantage of Ajax’s point loss as they were held to a 1-1 draw by NEC Nijmegen.

With PSV losing to Cambuur and Ajax drawing against Go Ahead Eagles, Feyenoord had a chance to close the gap on their title rivals.

Danilo should have given Feyenoord the lead early on but his header was straight at Jasper Cillessen. Then in the 23rd minute, Quinten Timber hit a low strike past Cillessen to make it 1-0.

Feyenoord remained on top but before the break, NEC leveled as Oussama Tannane crossed for Ivan Marquez to tap in.

Tannane and Landry Dimata both went close for NEC in the second half before Arne Slot decided to make changes. Sebastian Szymański, Santiago Giménez and Lutsharel Geertruida all came on but they could not change the scoreline as the points were shared.

Feyenoord is 4th while NEC have now drawn six games in a row and are 10th.
