According to Algemeen Dagblad, Feyenoord want to sign free-agent Leroy Fer as Tonny Vilhena’s replacement.

On Thursday, Feyenoord confirmed that Vilhena was leaving to join Russian side FC Krasnodar for a fee of €9 million.

The Rotterdammers are now on the lookout for a new midfielder and they have set their sights on bringing Leroy Fer back to the club.

Fer represented Feyenoord between 2007 and 2011 before joining FC Twente. He then moved to England for spells with Norwich City QPR, and more recently Swansea City. The 29-year-old is now a free agent after leaving Swansea at the end of the season.

AD believe that Fer is open to rejoining Feyenoord, but he has also been linked with other clubs including Roma.
