According to Voetbal International, Feyenoord are set to miss out on Ian Maatsen after the Chelsea defender decided to join Burnley on loan.

Feyenoord saw Maatsen as the perfect replacement for Tyrell Malacia, who has departed the club for Manchester United. However, Voetbal International is reporting that Maatsen has decided to join Burnley instead on loan.

It will be another season in the English Championship for the young Dutchman, who was with Coventry City previously. He also spent a campaign on loan with Charlton Athletic.

The 20-year-old left-back will work under Vincent Kompany, who has the task of guiding the club back to the Premier League. He will compete with fellow Dutchman Erik Pieters.
