The Rotterdam derby was a one-sided affair on Sunday with Feyenoord hammering Sparta 7-0 at Stadion Het Kasteel.

Sparta Rotterdam recorded a 1-0 victory in this fixture last year, but Feyenoord ensured their was to be no shock this time as they raced into a 3-0 lead after only fifteen minutes.

Tonny Vilhena hammered in the opener from distance after only four minutes before Dylan Vente headed in the second on his first Eredivisie start moments later. On fifteen minutes, Ryan Kortsmit saved a Steven Berghuis strike but the goalkeeper couldn’t keep out Jerry St Juste on the rebound.

Sparta’s horror first half was completed when Vilhena found the net again with another long-distance effort to make it 4-0 at the break.

Feyenoord did not let off and added a fifth two minutes into the second half with Renato Tapia heading in a corner. Before the end, Berghuis and Bilal Basacikoglu netted to make it 7-0 which is Feyenoord’s biggest ever win over their rivals.

Feyenoord remain fifth with the victory, while Sparta Rotterdam are 17th.
